Oh to be fancy........

There is never a day when this lady isn't fancy! Even when she's a bit under the weather, she still keeps it classy in her silk robe, and feather slippers... Isn't she just Grand!  When did it get to the point in human existence that people stopped dressing up? I grew up in an era that woman especially loved to get fancy... Everything from her pencil skirt suit, to her long maxi dress, and always adding streams of jewelry. The cocktail ring was very prominent in the 1970's. My mom would gracefully hold her cigarette and her long fingers would be adorned with a sparkly cocktail ring. I could close my eyes and be right there. Hearing the music, and the echoes of laughter from my parents guests as they mingle. The smell of cologne mixed in the air with fresh cut roses, and cigarettes... The men arriving in their seersucker pants, and navy blazers, and the ladies made their grand entrances in their floral maxi dresses....Each gal adorned themselves with colorful beads, gold, and the cocktail ring. The cocktail ring was the nights show piece. A lot of attention paid to each lady and her ring. They would smile with pride as they lifted their hand to show off their ring.... never putting down her martini. It was a night of color, fragrance, and soft hushes of gossip. Those were the days...
